Hey people, At the moment im stuck with the very old and worn out Nvidia 6 Series, my current card is the GeForce 6600 256MB PCI - E, running with 1.5GB Ram, and a 2.0~GHZ AMD 3200+ 64Bit under 32Bit windows. As you could gather from those horrible specs I dont have much luck running anything much in terms of games. However, Ive come to the conclusion that my ram is ample for now, and my CPU will do for a while longer, So I want to get a new GFX Card... My only problem is, I am VERY anti ATI so will never ever get anything ATI, Id rather burn then have ATI lol. So It will have to be Nvidia, and run on a horrible 300Watt PSU (no idea how many rails) I was looking at the 7300GS, and the 8400GS, both a reported to run on 300Watt's, I nearly killed over when I looked at bench tests, my card out performed both, thats when I learnt that GS means uber crap hehe. I was looking for something around the 7200GT or the 7600GT Mark, but I dont have that much to spend, I would put (as this isnt my computer but my parents) a 150 dollar GPU in it, and not much more. I also want at least 256MB of V-Ram, and of course, PCI - E! The games I am looking at running on AT LEAST medium graphics is MOH Airborne, Crysis (ON LOW GFX) and other games around that mark, I am also interested in WiC and Especially COH and COH: OF. I can get more ram easily, thats no drama so upgrading to a normal amount of 2 - 3GB is nothing. Its just the graphics card im after.
So if any one has any ideas, that'd be great!

The 8800GT is soon to be released (very soon) and has numbers that make it very much worth the 150-250 it will cost.

Yeah, the 8800GT also wont run off of a measly 300Watt PSU. Id got to for the parts, they are a discount wholesaler. Would the 8600 run of 300 Watts, I was under the impression the 8600 was 450+
just wanna mention that! The 8800 gt will probably need a psu around 450watt. Either go for the 8600 gt/gts or 8500 (i still think that those cards need a 450 psu) or go for a 7600 gt.
yeah, im thinking the 7600GT, so far, dont get me wrong I want DX10, but since this is my parents computer, im not gonna pour a whole heap of money into it, Im just putting bits here and there in to get it somewhat decent until I get my own computer :) Which ive already got parts pre ordered for, dual Q6600's :) (yes thats 2 quads) and i got 2*8800GTS Ultra's 768MB pre ordered, (thats 2000 AUD for the fricken gfx cards GRR)
Why would you need 2 quads for? Did you order a Motherboard that can support 2 CPUs?

You might want to look at the 8800GT mate, unless you enjoy paying disproportionally high prices for inferior hardware.
you did a huge mistake buy ordering two quads, everyone thinks its fast but it isnt, its even slower than a dual core. so if you did this for gaming, you are screwed.
It seems to me like all you really did was just buy expensive, powerfull sounding parts online and said yay. Well stop it. Do some research now, just cause it costs a lot doesn't mean it's good, and it doesn't mean it's worth it.
