ok so i finally got the remaining parts i needed to complete my pc, installed them all then plugged em all in, put the power cord in pressed the start button and nothing.........pressed again and nothing, i looked at the front panel connectors to make sure they are in the right spot, they are still no power checked the 24 pin power connector that was fine, then a clicked the switch in back on the PSU (one with the O and - on it) when i pressed it a very high pitched sound came from it and even higher sound when switched back, still no response, anyone know what it could be if its a dead PSU im sure gonna be pissed, but knowing my luck it most likely is:banghead: :Censored:
Try to start the PC manual with a screwdriver.Touch the start pins with the screwdriver.
It's not the power button that would do that, don't try it, you'll just run the risk of nailing your motherboard.
Look at the CMOS Jumper, make sure it's not in the reset position. I once got a brand new motherboard for my system. I took it back to Fry's because it wasn't working, turns out that was the problem.
Then again, the high pitched noise does sound like a possible PSU or capacitor problem (Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but don't they make a high-pitch squeal before going sometimes?). Also make sure your PSU is set to the right line voltage for your country (red switch with 115v/230v on it)
nevermind guys after posting this thread i went back and took out the PSU and mobo reconnected everything and the power kicked in i think it actually might of been the 24 power connector, currently installing windows looks like its going ok, thxs anyway. oh yeah by the way my HD fan isnt working, i has it hooked up to a periphal connector, same as the back one and its working, should i just try another connector i got plenty in there.
are you sure the power supply is adequate for the system?

Try a different connector, if it still doesn't work then either the fan is bad or what n0e said.
its working fine now thxs guys
