Hey Lads,

Just wondering what I should get. A better LCD (LG Hong Kong :: L246WHX , L246WHX), it supports HDMI input (1.3), BluRay res (For use with my BluRay player :uhoh: ) and more, my only hold back is the 5ms refresh rate (Visual tearing as it is with 2ms)

Or better speakers, (Logitech Z-5500DTHX Speakers). Specs for Speakers:

Powerful, distortion-free bass: The new, larger 10-inch long-throw subwoofer driver with flared bass port delivers 188 watts of thunderous bass. Innovative driver technology: Polished aluminum phase-plug satellites combine two drivers into one--the clarity of a tweeter with the richness and fullness of a separate mid-range. Digital equalization: The Z-5500 Digital actively adjusts frequency response in real time for the cleanest, most accurate sound reproduction. DTS® 96/24 support: Enjoy studio-quality sound thanks to the Z-5500's support for 96 kHz / 24-bit digital audio streams Amazingly powerful controls: The Digital SoundTouch™ Control Center lets you control volume to all speakers, set inputs, and much more. And the separate wireless remote is great for home theaters and video game consoles. Innovative satellite design: Cloth grilles are removable for a pro-audio look. Pedestals rotate for easy wall mounting or desk placement. Center channel can be mounted on wall, above or below monitor. Connect to multiple sources: Simultaneously connect 6 audio sources including PCs, video game consoles, and DVD, CD & portable music players… and control it all from the Digital SoundTouch™ Control Center.

Me, I'm leaning towards the speakers, i'm just over my current Logitech's, and the Center blew for the 3rd time the other day, and I really can't be fucked getting another replacement. But on the same note, I'd love a new LCD, however currently it works fine bar 1 dead (black) pixel.

Choices choices, What would you do? Keep in mind I have no HDMI output on the GPU (Yet, Upgrading to the 295 later most likely), nor do I have dedicated sound (yet)

That Logitech Z-5500 is a damn fine speaker system.

However, if you don't have a dedicated sound card, you probably don't have surround sound support. I have the Z-2300, which is basically the 2.1 version of the 5500. Fucking AWESOME bass, and it delivers the volume. Well worth the money; you can find it for under $100 US on Amazon, although they do have higher shipping rates.

My onboard can more then handle Surround Sound, 7.1 support, I'm running 5.1 at the moment, and can hell tell.

Realtek ALC889A codec High Definition Audio 2/4/5.1/7.1-channel Support for DTS (dts NEO:PC) Support for S/PDIF In/Out Support for CD In

I am thinking speakers, I just love awesome sound, but my mate reckons LCD (And not to take advice from someone with long hair, But I still love you Zamamee)

So far its 2:1 speakers in front

--Edit-- Say I go speakers, (Just for now atleast), from this (shocking) list, which DD sound card to get?? I say none, they are either shit brands, or to cheap. http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf

I would go with the LCD.

Personally i would rather be able to see my games and such on a nice 24" widescreen before just getting a little better sound.

I would wait until you get a sound card for new speakers. While your onboard will do 7.1 just fine, its going to sound a hell of a lot better through a good high quality card. Plus, if you get a 295, your going to want a nice large screen to actually make use of it.

Hmm, me and my mate agreed with you. 2:2 so far, Im stuck now lol your argument didn't help apollo haha. But BluRay on a nice 24" is sexy, maybe I can afford a 26"

I'm thinking about new speakers too. The whole surround-thing is nice, but I don't see how I can distriubute 5 boxes around me without getting entangled in cables, so a 2.1 system looks like the best choice.

Does this 2.1 system of yours have an outlet for headphones?

Forget both of those. If you're leaning towards the speakers, save yourself a lot of pain an just get a sound card for god's sake. I could tell the difference with shite 2.0 speakers, and I sure as hell can with 4.1. Admittedly, I have very good hearing, but I'm sure you'll notice a huge difference anyway.

You won't use half the crap on the card, but EAX in games is brilliant (adapts sound to emulate the given room i.e. will sound echoy in a VTOL, or building or whatever), and thank chriest for an EQ that actually works! Along with the Crystalizer and Bass boost/cut-off, it's seriously worth it. Please don't fool yourself into thinking your onboard sound can cut it. I have a 750i FTW with 7.1 support also, and my sound card kicks it from here to Wednesday.
