I've had this problem before christmas when it snowed pretty bad around here (great lakes region) and ever since it snowed my families computers have not been able to download anything. By downloading things I mean updates for Steam & trillian 3.0. It downloads only for a few seconds and then just stops, totally. I have left downloads on for all day and they will still be in the exact same place it was before. I have tried disabling my firewall and that didn't work. I could download things before it snowed that day, any idea? I'm running Windows XP SP2
And your normal web browsing is unaffected? That is strange as browsing is effectively downloading. It could be a number of things...
Try using a download program for your downloads. If you don't already, use Mozilla Firefox (a browser) - it has a build in external download program.
I recommend trying to download BIG files, over 200mb. See if they work.
If not, then its the Lines, the storm messed them up, and it will be a while before they are completely fixed. If so, then something else is wrong, and it likely is Service Pack 2, for Windows XP.
i tried downloading a larger file, and that didnt work so it must be the lines, i guess no counter strike till then... :-(
i've been using SP2 and mozilla for awhile before this happened so it must be the lines
I take what n0e says way too seriously

Uh.....it might help to tell us what kind of internet connection you have :uhoh:
Comcast Cable from the cleveland area i believe 712k
As I thought, it changes little, or nothing.
Well just posting this... How do your "On Demand" Movies work? If there are any problemd, then its definately you cable lines. If not, then Comcast may have put a cap on downloading around there, if someone has been abusing it, more than 200mbs in downloads a day.
