Alright, i am a fan of the NV CP in order to monitor clock speeds on my graphics cards as well as fan speeds, temps, custom profiles, etc. but ever since i replaced my 8600GT with my 9600GT, I haven't been able to change fan speed or see GPU temp in the CP (only NV monitor). I can still change the speeds, resolutions, etc, just not fan speeds. does anyone know how to fix this? Or at least why it happens?

All advice helps! thanks!

Did you reinstall the drivers after you put the new card in?

Yes, of course. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the CP, thinking maybe it needed updated (got the latest version from NV website) still nothing...

if you cant get it to work. I would suggest you just pick up a third-party app such as rivatuner if you really want to adjust all that stuff.

try the evga precision tool. It is based off Rivatuner, but is a bit more user friendly, & will overclock the card & change fan speed, Also, has a default nifty on screen display when gaming. It works for all nvidia cards, not just evga branded.

I recommend EVGA Precision as well, works better than anything else i've used. It also can be set to show a tiny display in-game in the corner that will show your fps, clock speeds, temps, or whatever you set it too. If you set the size to small it doesn't distract from the game at all.

Yeah, I've seen it on a few people's Youtube vids, I'll look into it! thanks guys (I thought it only worked on EVGA cards, thanks for clarifying)

The only thing you need to watch with Precision is sometimes the fan speed "forgets" to set itself when precision starts up with windows. When that happens just open precision, bump the fan speed control, and click apply again.

Update: I downloaded and installed Precision, and it is actually a LOT better than the nV CP anyways. thanks for the reference! It's working awesome and I once again have control over fan speed. :D
