My brother triped over the headphone cord and almost pulled my laptop off the desk. Now sound only works in one ear. I've tried all the headphones I can and the only sound is from the left ear. What's broken? How do I fix it?

Chances are that the socket is busted. I'd suggest giving up on the headphones and use the speakers instead.

Up. You would need to pay a computer repair person/shop to open up your laptop and replace the jack (or even the whole motherboard if it's necessary).

I HAVE A PLAN!!! set your sound to mono, then get a splitter, so you have two headphones hooked up and you can listen to one speaker from each headphone!!!
