When a new generation of cards come out I see that people get the newest/best very fast. But what do you do with your old cards? Stick'em in another computer? give it away? sell it for a ridiculously high price? Feed it to the dog? What do YOU do with them?

SolidifiedPenguinFeed it to the dog?

 hey, thats a good idea! j/k When i get a new one, i usually try to use the old one in a different computer. but in the case of my last upgrade (FX5200 to X800XT) my old FX don't work in my other box since it only has PCI slots, which sucks since it would have really helped that old thing. so right now its just sitting on top of my computer desk wrapped up in my X800XT's box....

I've got a few sitting on the top of my desk collecting dust, and the one that was in my old computer I gave to my dad so he could play C&C Generals. And after my Radeon 9600SE died and I got a GeForce 6800, I gave it a proper burial and chucked the sucker.

I either upgrade an older PC with it, or give it away to a friend who has a worse card. P.S. hey Torpov... thats probably the most homoerotic sig ever lol

I just keep them or give them to people who need them, I have a GeForce 2 and an older card, the others I've given to friends/family.

Buy a new card, and then build a computer around it.

I thought you were building a system with a 7800GTX??? I usually sell mine on eBay. It helps pay for the upgrades. Edit: C38368 and me posted at the same time... that was directed at, um... the guy above C38368 whos name has escaped me.

I build computers using my old graphics cards and use them as servers on my network. They're useful for firewalls, file servers, rendering flames and monitoring the network. For example, I have a crappy 400MHz computer which I have AVG send viruses to to be quarentined if they aren't destroyed before. I look at what they try to do. Since it runs Linux, the effects of most of them don't harm it (they're designed for XP usually). It's interesting to see.
