I just got an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard. I installed the AC'97 onboard sound drivers. But I have no sound. I cannot get it to work.
Yes, my speakers are on, and they are plugged into the line out jack.
Onboard sound sucks.
As for your problem, make sure you enabled the onboard sound in all the places where it is possible (one or two settings in BIOS and one in windows).
First, your speakers should be plugged into the proper speaker jack (the green one), not the lineout (the blue one). Also check the volume control (Control Panel > Sounds and Audio > first "Advanced" button) and make sure they aren't muted or turned down.
Is the soundcare even being detected? Do you even have the right one selected in the audio properties... my sister had this problem, only thing wrong was she hadnt installed the drivers correctly, and secondly had the audio device set one 'modem speaker' hehe...
IF you think this might be the problem: Goto Control Panel->Sound and Audio Devices->Audio TAB->Then change the Default Device for Playback to the correct thing (probably nvidia, something)...
Hope this helps, and if it doesnt, ill get the box of tissues!
I would still get a good Creative Labs sound card. Onboard blows.
Nothing works. I mean't it was plugged into the right jack (the green one, i dont know where line out came from), it is picking it up and everything. It is AC'97, I insatlled the drivers, everything is as it should be, but no sound.
Did you check the volume?
Ive got this AC97 on my PC before i buyed a faster Sound Card. But I never had Problems. Check out the whole sound Configuration systems in windows, maybe you just forget to turn the WAVE Volume up.
Yes, the sound is on.
I think it's software related, because i don't know if firmware or whatever is installed.
It is an nforce4 motherboard, can someone explain to me what firmware is and what it does?
Thanks.
Turns out I took the jumpers off the sound thingo on the motherboard. DOH
It's all good!
Got Sound!
Thanks for the help. :):):)
