So anyone else trying the 10.50 beta? I really like what they've done with the skin. At first it was very much a case of going, 'What the ever loving fuck have they done?' but this is the one release in a while now that I don't really feel any temptation to go and get a user made skin for. Used to be to free up the screen space, the last version of Opera was chunky shit in its default skin. This one's actually quite trim. Spent the last 20 minutes or so screwing around getting the status bar set up the way it used to be before realising the new way's actually better.
Didn't install over the top of my old version of Opera, being a beta, so having to set up notes - bookmarks etc again. Searching now much easier. Makes me wonder why they bothered with the multi-search box; everyone's just going to go to Google anyway.
Really smooth package this time round. Give it a go:
I didn't even know they had released a new beta.

If you use Opera Link it should remember all of that, assuming you don't mind them holding on to your personal information.
Create both private tabs and private windows and plan that surprise vacation, without any worries.
I'll bet no one has ever planned a vacation using private browsing before. :lulz:

Meh. I've just typed the password in from my other computer and everything's reappeared - other than my mail accounts of course. And I note you can't sync your wand passwords but that's probably for the best.
On the privacy front I'm actually trying out the password manager this time around. I've always felt kind of iffy about using them before - after all it's just a .dat file somewhere on your HD. But at the same time if your computer has been compromised that far I assume a keyloger is just as likely.
Just have to remember to write my passwords down somewhere and encrypt the file. They could improve the wand password manager a bit - allow you to retrieve passwords into plain text if you have the master password, store the password and the site separately so if a form become disassociate you can alter the password associations if you've forgotten it.
The integration with the mouse gestures is nice touch. Come across a password form and just press the right mouse button and flick over to the right to tell it to fill the bits in and load the next page. Quite impressive.

Overall the new appearance is okay. Not as much real estate for tabs which I frequently have quite a few open. The new menu button seems out of place. The new default "View" menu at the bottom right doesn't show the correct magnification of the screen. The last niggle I have is with the collapsible panel. I preferred using tabs over the drop down menu to switch between history, downloads, etc.
Besides that, I really like the minimalistic feel.

Don't really get what you mean by that one. The side panel still has tabs for history downloads etc; just tap F4 to roll it out.
Embedded video is a bit strange on youtube and the like - I expect that to be fixed for the full release though.
Edit: You can make the O and the trashcan disappear to regain some tab space btw.
I'm trying to get it to look like the tabs on the left.
Oh right. That's just there by default on my one. :/
Think I've got you though. Try right clicking on something to get the customise menu, go to the panels tab, select the check boxes for each of the panel options you want to have.
Or if you mean you want to pack them out into an actual tab like a webpage would have? Go to the customise menu go to buttons, go to panels, find that little double arrow thingy under bookmarks, place it next to the X on the menu you're interested in - bookmarks whatever. Click it to bring them out into a tab.
No, I'm trying to get the old functionality. Click on the side panel so it opens up and shows all the Bookmark, History, Download tabs along the side. The new version only allows you to open them up via the drop down menu at the top of the panel.
I did a fresh install and it's there. Not sure why it wasn't the first time I installed. The only thing I had done was removed the menu icon and rearranged some buttons.
