What type of operating system are you looking at putting on it?

I will probably put any Linux distro that will work. But if there was a possibilty of xp I'd go with that.

It wouldn't have enough power to run Windows. Maybe, maybe you can get linux running on it.

even if I got Linux running on tha gameboy wouldn't it be strictly Text based? I want to see a desktop with emulators, mp3 players and all on tha gameboy. and how would I even begin to get any kind of linux on it?

To be honest I don't think the Gameboy would be powerful enough to do what your wanting to do.

Have you got any idea how crap the hardware in Game Boys is? For the advance we're talking about a machine with a 16MHz processor and 256KB of RAM. It is technically possible (if you bothered to Google 'Game Boy Linux' you'd know that) but not at the level you're talking about.

It can be done with the DS, sort of. You can buy the slot flash cards that go directly into the DS that have a very basic OS on them, you can do things like play mp3's and some other basic stuff, but its all text based. The DS only has a 67Mhz processor, with a second 33Mhz processor and 4MB ram, so your still not going to get much out of it. That about all those systems can do is very basic text based stuff.

And how, prey tell, do you plan on doing all that with a device that has about as much RAM as an Apple II, if that?
