well i dont know weather this would work but you could always try System Restore, it is located in the Start / All Programs / Accessorys / System Tools and you should see it, system restore, its at the bottom of the list (well it is for me anyway)

I guess I am wondering what "nothing works" means. Does that mean sound is hosed, video is wrong, or are we talking other software?

Is it working enough to get on the Internet and download Windows updates, or updated drivers?

More importantly, does it load the Windows XP bootlaoder, and give you a choice to boot into Windows 98.

Try pressing F8, or Ctrl bfore Windows boots up.

There is a difference whether you have upgraded or formatted mate, you need to let us know. If you upgraded you can just uninstall xp in control panel, if you fromatted its a different kettle of fish.
