I am running an iBook G4 1.2ghz 12" with 512mb of ram 30gb hard drive anyway long story short is that according to apple this comes with an optical drive that will read DVDs... HOWEVER I would love to watch Pirates of the Carribean (dead man's chest) and it just spits the DVD right back out.. any help would be deeply appreciated...
Is it the correct Region DVD? What country did you purchase the laptop from?
its in the correct region and everything... its just being weird... i hope its not going faulty =/. I bought it in the USA and I'm using a NA region copy of the DVD
Do you know you need some kind of DVD player software to run DVD movies and/or it must be compatible with your OS' player, which in this case would be Quicktime? On PCs you need to set Autorun to automatically launch Windows Media Player upon disc insertion if you have no DVD player software installed or launch it manually. I assume it's similar with Mac. Other than that make sure your laptop has the required spec to run DVD movies. Once in a blue moon I have had a problem with a rental DVD not playing on my PC, but it is very rare. Region incompatibility is fairly rare too, but can happen to those traveling to other countries. Usually what happens there is though they have a locally purchased device (otherwise shipping kills ya), they sometimes buy movies while traveling not even thinking about the region code. The code for the USA is 1 btw if that's where you are. One word of warning, low priced movies sold overseas are often pirated content, so buyer beware. There are many players now that are multi-region though, so check yours. It may not be the problemn at all even if the movie is not your region.
