As far as the trend goes Pilla, compare G80 to the one GT200 and say there is no difference in speed whatsoever.
Its actually a G92 chip.
Also pilla, chances are you wont get too much more from that e8400. If you dont have a E0 stepping you're not going to get 4.2ghz stable no matter what ram you get for your system. It sounds like you just hit a wall. You can always try to pump more volts into your ram and put some active cooling to see if its really your ram or if its just your cpu hitting a wall (which I think it is) since 4-4.1ghz is around the max oc for c1 cpu's.
A quick google reveals that 4.8 - 5GHz has been done with C0, and I should expect 4.2 - 4.4 easy On another note. When I increased my clock by 100MHz, COD4 suddenly gave my vsync tears :( It was running at 60-70FPS, Now it cranks along at 90-100FPS lol, And it was only 100MHz! Sus game really
Not bad oblivious. I score in the upper 11000s but thats only because my cpu is holding me back at the 1280x1024 that 06 runs at. Pilla, you run COD4 at 90-100fps? I KNEW the video card makes a big difference. I run from 90-250fps on cod4 with my 4850 :D And 4.8-5ghz is NOT going to happen on a C0 on air. You need water or DICE/ LN2 to get those speeds unless you have a cherry picked chip.
That's about where I scored with my E2180 @3.0ghz, somewhere around 11k.
While we're talking benchmarks, I like using SuperPI 1M times also:
Here are some of my scores in my hwbot profile.
Oblivious;4722911I just ordered some 1066 ram a moment ago. By next week I should find out if that is my bottleneck or not. I've been looking up this chip again and some folks have hit 4.5ghz with air cooling, but it's rare. Most people can get 3.6 and 3.8 (lazy), and 4.0-4.2 seems a pretty good speed to achieve. Anyways, I'd be happy with another 150+ mhz. 4.2ghz felt like it came too easy to think that's the limit. I have an E0 stepping also. When I ran 3DMark06 at these settings (CPU @4.2 - GPU @707/1900), I recall scoring just over 13k.
DDRII or DDRIII 1066MHz ? If DDRII 1066MHz can hit lazy 3.6 - 3.8GHz in FSB, what about my CPU ? Probably HT link can be increased higher than mere 3.6GHz (with HT/vCore adjustments). Unless you talking about DDRIII.Sgt. D. Pilla;4722916Its actually a G92 chip.Holy crap !! Thanx. G80=8 series, G92 - 8800GT/9 series. Guess i forgot all about it, after GTX 280 purchase. Thanx Pilla. :)
While we're talking benchmarks, I like using SuperPI 1M times also:Spoiler: ShowT2400 @1.8: 34.985 seconds 4400+ @2.7: 31.536 E2140 @2.4: 28.391 E2180 @3.0: 19.953 E8400 @4.2: 11.109
How is it goes in Pi/SuperPi less is better ? Just like, what, Sandra ? Also, is it real what you said about using SuperPi 1 million times, or you actually just forgot since when you 1st used it ? :) P.S. Hope Pi is free & not trial. P.P.S. Tomorrow (actually today - 2am right now in Israel, you probably know how it goes in metal pub :)) i'll try to bump my CPU clock to 2.8GHz with AMD's stock cooler & see how it scores in Vantage with Disable PPU option. Yes i know that it will be inferior to your scores, yes i know that my CPU won't reach the result of your 4.0GHz CPU Pilla, but if i started this thread it was not for nothing. Deal, people ? Next round is mine.
I run from 90-250fps on cod4 with my 4850
But you don't. Benchmarks with a GTX280 in SLI doesn't even get 250FPS. nub.
And 4.8-5ghz is NOT going to happen on a C0 on air.
It does, and has.
Prove it. Show me where they get 4.8-5ghz on air without it being a cherry picked chip. Want to see my screens of my FPS?
Sgt. D. Pilla It was running at 60-70FPS, Now it cranks along at 90-100FPS lol, And it was only 100MHz! Sus game really
I doubt that. A 100Mhz increase is not going to give you 30fps more no matter what game it is, its just not going to happen.
Also, as much of a Nvidia fanboy as you may be, your going to have to face it, a 4850 is a much better card. Hell, a 4850 is faster than my 9800GTX at stock speeds, and faster than the 9800GTX+, which are both faster than a 8800GT.
Oh Im not saying its crap cause Im a fanboy, Im saying its crap going by reviews and benchmarks i've seen, include the one Kow provided, a whole 4FPS better, Wow I mean for an extra 150 bucks, its well worth it...not. Keep in mind apollo, I havn't played COD4 in a while prior to OCing more, However I can guarentee there was a massive jump in FPS when I played after OCing, it may just be timing, but something made my FPS jump massivly between OCing another 100MHz and playing the game 5 minutes later.
Want to see my screens of my FPS?
Not trying to prove myself right here, But are your Graphics maxed? Those textures look worse then I remember :/, But like I said, I havn't played in a while.
Prove it. Show me where they get 4.8-5ghz on air without it being a cherry picked chip.
Done! Rather easy actually, it was one of the many I came accross (All-be-it, most were 4.7 - 4.8) And wow, What do you know, Its got the same C0 stepping and revision as me. Infact, my CPUz and his CPUz look almost identical...

2nd one is an ES on a vapchill LS, not air :P. Also, yeah, you can get them to 5 ghz on air. Long enough for a cpuz screenshot. Maybe, just maybe, a 1m superpi run as well. Try prime 95/ibt that shit. Negatory!
