I am going to put together a new PC for my GF. I am looking on TigerDirect and i see a PCCHIPS mother board with a Duron 1.8. it would be great for her, but personally, i am not everly familar with this brand. I went to their website, apprently they wone a few awards, weather its then fabricating the awards or not, i do not know. so whats the scoop on PCCHIPS

I guess just look up reviews... but remember this, it will only cost a couple bucks more to get a brand you trust.

I can't say how good PCChips are these days, I believe the brand name has been discontinued.

However, back in PCChips' Heyday, they were the most annoying, and aggravating pieces of... I don't know what. A very lamented brand, considered to be the bottom most in quality.

Poor Documentation, especially on the motherboard. Often the components were a very strange mix, and often had one or two unreliable components. Drivers were hard to find, etc...

I hate, I Loathe PCChips motherboards. Buyer Beware, and Purchase at your own risk.

I personaly havn't had any problems with the new pc chips boards especially this one: PcChips M848ALU SKT A SIS 748 400 DDR AGPx8 ATA133 6CH Sound/lAN/USB 2.0 will Take Upto a 3.2+ AMD Athlon XP And Sempron CPU's .........costs about £24,having said that for £35 i would rather go for a NF7-v2.0,don't bother with the "S" version unless you want SATA but the on board sound is better and it will be about £10 extra.
