I got a nice suprise with my breakfast today: the pentium 4 550, stock 3.4Ghz.
I just did a quick OC, 4Ghz. This thing is so easy to overclock, it has not an FSB wall like my e5200 does from 3.26Ghz, higher and it will not even post. And it aint a hole either, as even higher values wont work either, nor with a multiplier of 8, 10, default 12.5, ...
I did need to add some volts for this current 4Ghz oc to work, but i'll get it some higher. Als what's the max vcore? I read 1.70v somewhere? (It's 90nm)And i have to use Hw-monitor, it's the only program that supports the cpu. =p It also looks that my board it using my 1066ram as 800 and overclocking that. Meh, i'm getting a new psu and mobo someday. :D EDIT: Managed to boot into 4.25Ghz iwth the maximum voltage this motherboard can give me. I'm going to try to squeeze some more clocks out of this. 4Ghz: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=951060 4.25Ghz: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=951091
Not bad, you should run some benchmarks with it OCed just for shits and giggles.
Sounds like your mobo is pretty limited at giving it more volts though if your topped out at 1.5V. My Gigabyte board maxes out at 2.3V, not that i'll ever need that much for anything....
4.26 is the max i can get it, it needs more volts, as i can get it to start loading windows at 4.5Ghz, but it just BSODs after a few seconds. Or could i get some better BIOS for the Asus p5kplam?
Also, i just got Farcry 2, and with my GTS250 and the p4, i get 8fps on high (not very- or ultra, just high) and no AA, 8fps, that MUST be impossible, as i just saw a Tomshardware benchmark where the 1gig version got +40fps on he ultra settings. :O
Should i install my dual-core again? and risk of getting power failures again by to much wattage getting drawn?

lol, nice. That's a old P4 for you.
But yeah, whenever you decide your done having fun with it, definitely put that dual core back in.
I've put in my dually in again, FC2 is now all highest +2AA @+30fps. Only some freezes when driving fast, it can't load the textures fast enough.
I really want to try this again when i have a new mobo, i really want a non-ln2 record! :D
Non-ln2 record isn't gonna happen =p That is unless you can do 4.8ghz on that chip on air.

I was able to post 4.45ghz with 1.45vcore, and 1.70 is max. Temps aren't a problem.. :naughty: Could i?
Oh, I thought you were meaning with that e5200. For the P4 you'll need LN2 to get to records, you have a top 20 chip already though (because nobody uses it). You might want to register on hwbot and get a few points with that chip.
Also, i meant NON-ln2 records.. :p
I'll get on this hwbot thing though.
I know you meant non-ln2 records but theres no such thing since everyone is clumped together.
