Hey all, I am interested in buying two games (Repub. Commando and LEGO Star Wars) but they both need Pixel Shader v1.1. I can't find much info on this, and I was wondering if anyone knew if the eVGA GeForce FX 5500 Video Card had it. Im kinda a newb.;) Thanks for anyone's help, PIRATE
well i think either the x800 or 6800 has pixel shader 3.0 and the other has 2.0 so id presume that the 5500 would have 2.0... or better than 1.1 anyway althought id wait for a second opinion
Thanks! and ya, if anyone can tell me any other cheap card w/ pixel shaders 1.1 it would be very helpful.
well, the AOpen FX5500 128MB uses Pixel Shader 2.0 so i would presume all FX5500s used PS 2.0 http://hardware.gamespot.com/AOpen-FX5500-DV128-128MB-12102-S-9-9
The 5500 will run it fine, but you'd be better off buying a 6200 or X300 instead... its a newer card, simmilar in power and can be had cheaply.
but his card will play those games perfect, he isnt playing anything like HL2 or Doom3 so he wont nessecarily need a newer generation graphics card for a while...
INFACT you can get a X600 AGP 256MB (WAY WAY better than a 5500) for $96 shipped http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=M&Product_Code=190691&AFFIL=pricewatch&NR=1 Its a good choice and faster than even a X300/6200
well, all he asked was if the FX5500 had support for Pixel Shader 1.1 or better, not for the best priced per performance graphics card
Yeah, its is comprable to a 9500 series of cards. so yes, it has ps2.0 If you need more info, you can go to the manufacturer and read their spefications.
