Hi everyone, i am having big issues withcertain games on my computer the reason i am posting here is because i believe it should be classed as a tech issue as it may be hardware or not :S. the setup = AMD 64 3700+ 2gig corsair xms 7800GT extreme mobo = A8N-SLI deluxe and crt monitor though very sure that not the reason the situation = King Kong (ubisoft) came with the graphics card, have installed and completed with graphics on full. only ever had this freeze once early on but have played for many hours straight with no problems at all. also played bfme 2 beta for a few weeks with no problems at all :S however with the majority of other games it tends to crash literally as i join game from map load. i willget a single frame or a couple from how the game should start then will freeze. Battlefield 2 especially is like this, it will either freeze jsut after i click join game or will play all the way through map but freeze after clicking join map when the new map is loaded. happened on battle for middle earth as well. and installing joint ops to test and it done the same, a few times. graphic drivers up to date, games were updated. so who got any ideas? thanks for your time

Try running DxDiag (Start > Run > "dxdiag") to see if there are any errors in the graphics front (I doubt it though). You aren't overclocking, I assume.

Try using the Omega or DNA-Force drivers (see the Knowledge Base sticky for links) if nothing else works, as the nVidia drivers have had some slight issues in some versions which could be related. You needn't worry about a drop in performance because A) they usually end up increasing performance and B) the card is so advanced it won't make a difference.

nah not overclocking

ran dixDag and were no problems only by graphics it said. The file nv4_disp.dll is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer. DirectDraw test results: All tests were successful. Direct3D 7 test results: All tests were successful. installed 64bit windows and same thing happened re-insalled media centre and installed games on C: as that is the drive that gets formatted each time i install. games worked until i restarted computer now back to the origional problem will try the drivers that are suggested, in mean time anyone else got any ideas?

What DirectX do you have?

From what I can read it says 7....But I am not too sure.

Get the latest ones, they are compulsary for any game using newer DirectX technology to work.

I dont think it is Direct X 7, cause that would be like win98. (Xp comes with 8.1) I would rather check how hot your video card gets when gaming, also check the CPU temperature. I had the problem, that Battlefield 1942 overheated my PC, while FarCry didnt, dont ask me why.

CPU = not an issue... water cooled, not going above 50 degrees GPU idle at 50ish direct x = 9.0c

thought could be graphics over heating. king kong worked fine for as long as i played it, but just turned on after computer had been off for ages and it crashed straight out on Demo of Empire at war, then done the freeze after map load on bf2 after being off for a while.

sometimes lasts longer from cold though but havent completely tested that theory yet.
