I'm looking for the best audio enhancement plugins for Windows Media Player 11 (because WMP 11 Beta is the SHIT. Screw winamp.) Of all of the different plugins I've used, Volume Logic is great, but because WMP11 is not 'mainstream' VL will not work with it. As a result, for the audio quality that VL is giving me, I'm forced to utilize iTunes, which, in its own right is a great media player, but I much prefer WMP. I prefer WMP primarily because its providing me with a much better sound quality (and although the settings are limited, I get much richer bass in WMP over iTunes and RealPlayer, and WinAmp hasn't shown itself to be that much greater (its been a while though)) List em. List 'em all. I'm leaning more for ones that are going to be fully free, but the likelihood of an amazing FREE plugin is slim to none. If its not free, I request that its trial features are not fully limited (so I can at least get awesome sound quality without having to pay for it. I am incredibly broke right now, otherwise I'd buy Volume Logic) If there is nothing for WMP, then suggest something better for other Media players. Sorry for the rather disjointed, and demanding tone, I'm multi-tasking and tired at the same time, which with me, don't mix well. Thanks!

You can adjust the bass in iTunes.

It really is buggy, under Vista anyway. You fail me. :(

Eh, I don't run Vista, I'm running XP SP2. I'll get Vista only when it goes mainstream (and I actually have the money to do so). And as for the iTunes Equalizer, it leaves a lot to be desired. I've got it tuned just right, but any setting other than what its set at it sounds like ass.

What's wrong with the "WOW" Effect, and Equalizer built into WMP 11? They do me well.

Silly admins :vikki:

At any rate, I'll just go ahead and suggest the greatest audio player the Windows world has ever known (foobar2k) and suggest a better soundcard. Nevermind paying for plugins to get a graphic equaliser.

And I doubt very much you'd be interested in the truly beautiful solutions...

Well, I can't afford anything more than an Audigy 2ZS, and before I purchase a new soundcard, I WILL be buying new speakers. I have yet to do so, because I cannot find a damn job that isn't either A) Exploiting me (in the case of getting paid minimum wage for work that I should be getting paid 10+ bucks an hour for) or B) way out of the way from where I live. I'm looking for current, plausible solutions. However, Foobar2k, what makes it the best?

Also, perhaps I may be interested in the "truly beautiful solutions". Even if I wasn't, its still nice to see all the cards.

What speakers do you currently have?

I was under the assumption you had a good set and a good soundcard. If you don't, then forget about equalizers, because that should be the last on your priority list right now.

Foobar2k is both lightweight and heavily customizable. With an 18-band equaliser. It also wouldn't surprise me to find out that you can adjust the z-values on each band also. It's also capable of bit-perfect playback, something that many players aren't (though I can't speak for WMP or iTunes, I don't think Winamp is without a PCM bitstream).

As for the elegant solutions, that'd be cans and a headamp! With a source that gives totally uncolored sound. (As I sit here and type this listening to Epica on my Grado HF-1s through an RSA XP-7 using the analogue-outs from my Squeezebox. The other day I turned on foobar to listen to something through my speakers while the Audigy2 was still the active soundcard in my system... sounded like watery shit. Muddy, confused and smashed sound with horribly pronouced midrange frequencies and no higher end at all. Really hammered the point home again for me.)
