Eh, whats his face made a post and I know I have done several ghetto solutions to problems. It's always entertaining! So, post pictures of your silly solutions to your computer problems! Goes for mounting, cooling, whatever you can think of. I know I once duct taped a hard drive into a computer... LOL! Or of course the plastic zip ties to hold down processor coolers when the proper mounting brackets cant be found! That last one actually works really great though...

LOL. Can that even be safe? I mean. Wow. I guess whatever works, but I don't think it would function very well. Did you cut a hole for the external drives at least? Or do you have to take it out every time you want to use it?

Lol, nice way to start it off there guy! I wish i had pictures of HALF the (insert derogatory word here) rigged fans and cases and such from back in the day to post here, but lately I have not rigged anything in an odd matter... :uhm: Its making me feel as though something is lacking...

I have never taken pictures, but I have a long and distinguished career in doing bodge jobs and coming up with unusual solutions to problems.

The best one for story telling would probably be the time when I wasn't inclined to move half the office furniture and rip up 90 floor tiles to run a cable. I left it for the next day and brought in a remote controlled vehicle from home, which I gaffa taped the CAT5 cable to and ran under the floor.

Of course, in any office with a raised floor underneath is a rats nest of large runs of cables, and my colleague that was keeping an eye on the vehicle from the far end reported that I was should stop, as I was about to get stuck on a large bundle of cables. Having seen this coming and planned ahead, I speeded up. He was quite right, a remote controlled car would have gotten stuck. However, a remote controlled tank has caterpillar tracks. It just went strait over them and kept going with the cable stretched behind it.

It got the cable to where we wanted it, having set a new record for laying a cable under a raised floor without any of the correct equipment. However, unfortunately it didn't end there. After having untaped the cable we discovered somebody in the neighbourhood must have been flying a plane or something else with a very powerful transmitter on the same frequency. Oops.

Still under the floor, the tank promptly backed up a few metres and started moving its turret my way. I couldn't remember if the BB gun on the thing was actually loaded and or safed, and I didn't feel like finding out. The obvious next step was to figure out where it had stopped, and pull the floor tile above it and turn it off. Quickly. However, having apparently achieved sentience it seemed to have other ideas and tried to cheat us by keeping on the move, fortunately getting stuck quickly.

Honestly, you couldn't make stuff like that up...

I don't bother with fancy fans.

I just took the side panel off, open the window, and park the PC next to it.
