I have a Dell 3100cn and I recently bought a new USB cable and when I plugged the cable into the printer and PC, it didn't do anything. I try to add a new printer, it says nothing is there. The printer works fine but it acts like there is no printer or anything. Can anyone help me with what is wrong?
Nevermind, boy do I feel dumb. I blindly tried to plug the USB plug in and I felt it go in. Oh, it did alright - right into the Ethernet plug on the back of the printer. I switched it around and put it in the correct plug and low and behold it showed up. Man I feel dumb, guess that's what I get for just trying to feel where the plug was. Someone can delete this thread now.
Shintsu, this goes right along with people asking for assistance cause their pc just turned off. First thing you ask ? Did you kick the kill switch on your powerstrip ?

Well, this isn't like most things. Normally, a plug doesn't ever fit into anything it isn't meant to go in. My printer is positioned so pulling it in and out is really inconvenient (It's very heavy and bulky) so I just tried plugging it in by feel and I thought I felt the USB plug. Apparently not though... On the upside, this printer does a fine job printing photos. Not a bad printer for $5!
just make sure you don't fit anything else that way ... surprises abound !
