Is it possible to go from Vista Home Premium to 7 Professional?

As a student, that's the only upgrade package that Microsoft offers on the student pricing store section. I need both 7 and Office to do some of my college classes. Plus, Vista is getting kind of old.

Okay, was just making sure. Again, it's the only package that they had so I had to ask before I spent 80-100 bucks on an OS upgrade and then finding out it doesn't work. Thanks.

As long as they're both 32-bit, or 64-bit, yes. As far as I'm aware there's no upgrade option to go from 32 to 64-bit, or visa versa.

I bought a 64bit 7 upgrade to go over my 32bit Vista and didn't realise but you can get around it by double installing the 64bit 7 you just need to have the previous windows data on the drive. Now this may not ethical as such but as I paid for both Vista and Win 7 I think I'm in my rights to do so.

Yes.

BUT (=p), I'd recommend doing a clean install anyway. You'll only get around 60% of the performance increase you'd expect if you upgrade. I don't have the link, but some site did a comparison between a fresh install and an upgrade, and that's what they found.
