When you say "from Steam".

Is this something you downloaded via Steam, which only runs from Steam? Or is this a separate program, which you have added to Steam?

Does it work without Steam?

You didn't read the requirements for the game, because... ?

As I said, I'm not familiar with Steam, but I'm sure there's a properties box somewhere for the game.

The requirements aren't there to take up space, they actually are guidelines for what works and what doesn't work to play the game.

Have a look here for Steam compatibility. I don't have steam either, so I wouldn't know, but it might help.
