I just recently upgraded my video card to 2 new E-Vga GeForce 8600 GTS' that are super clocked. I installed them, and installed the drivers. Everything was good until about 5 minutes into any 3d game it would crash and freeze repeating game sounds or either instantly restarting my Pc. I then backed up all my music, games, movies on a portable hard drive and reformatted. Windows XP wouldn't install with these 2 cards so i put my old one back in just for the install, and it worked fine after they were put back in. When I was done istalling all of the drivers and such I started up CS:S and the same damn problem occured.
I have an MSI K9N Diamond 7226-01 OCZ Platinum Dual Channeled 2 Gb ram pc26400 ddr2 800 SB Audigy AMD Athlon X2 4600+ Antec Trio 650 watt Windows XP Professional
Anyone hae any ideas to what the heck is wrong?

Have you updated your drivers? Check your temps, are the cards overheating? Try using a driver cleaner to wipe whatever old video card driver you put in to install XP with.
I've used drive cleaner. They are running at 50 C - 122 F

Did you get a Stop error (aka Blue Screen of Death)? If it automatically restarted, chances are that it did display one, but the system was configured to reboot instantly without giving you a chance to read the error message.
To disable this, right-click "My Computer", click "Properties", select the "Advanced" tab and then click the "Settings" button underneath "Startup and Recovery". Untick the "Automatically restart" tickbox and then Apply your changes.
If and when a Stop error occurs again, be sure to record the exact stop code and error message. It could prove invaluable in troubleshooting your exact problem.
At the moment I can only guess at three possible problems: A CPU or memory problem, or a Driver error/conflict. If you've only begun to experience this problem since installing your new video cards, then I'd suspect the latter of the three.
CS:S Stopped crashing but whenever I try to join a BF2 Server it just quits right when it's done loading. If I get another screen i'll post the code.
Okay this is what I did. I took out one and tested the game to see if it crashed and it worked. I took the other one and put it in and took the other one out. Ran the game and it crashed with this error.

I noticed that the cards both have different Video Bios versions. If that makes a difference.
OMFG!!! Where am I?!?

That's interesting, did you buy them at different times? And don't you just love the memory errors it gives, I swear Microsoft never wants you to trouble your own computer.

im really starting to think that the 8 series cards are more for vista and not XP cuz my EVGA 8600 GT does the same for hl2 and bf2 but supreme commander and americas army work fine
I bought them both at the same time. And different fucking video bios. If I do not get the one not working i'm taking them both back to get an 8800 GTX.
My BF2 just quits whenever it is almost done loading..
