Hi all, I am saving up to upgrade my computer and am deciding to buy a GeCube x1900xt. I am wondering if my Thermaltake Silent PurePower 480w powersuppy will be able to handle it. This review has the specs: http://www.hardware-pacers.com/pages.php?pid=296&catType=r

Thanks in advance, Avenger3217.

Please work on your grammar. My eyes hurt.

The power supply should be enough. Given that you aren't running an insane amount of fans and optical drives.

18A on the 12V seems very low,my Antec neo 480 has two 12v rails:18 and 15A respectively. According to a piece of paper that came wit my 1900xtx,ATi wants at least a capacity of 30A on the 12V for a single card and 38A for xfire.

AFAIK, there are only a handful of PSU's out there with 30a on a single rail. I know of plenty of people on another forum I visit who run an x1900xt/x on 18a psu's. A gpu uses only one rail, and your psu has the same output amperage on the single rail as the one he's asking about.

To the original post, you'll be fine. Enjoy your new card.

I use BOTH rails, one is for the ATX 20 pin connector and the auxilliary four pin one for the mobo. The other rail is for the rest, including the "PCI-express" connector. His seems to have a single 18A 12V,and that is nowhere near recommended total output.

I'm pretty sure that the 4-pin molex going to your motherboard is only used when the videocard itself doesn't have a plug for external power.
