If that were the case, the magic smoke would have escaped from your CPU a long time ago. 200w is a ridiculous amount of power. Your average desktop chip has a TDP of between 50 and 90 watts - even the QX9770 is only rated at 130w, max.

TDP isn't a measure of maximum power draw, it is a measure of maximum reasonable power draw. "Power viruses" and other such programs would pull far more power than the TDP. Don't forget also that I've overclocked and overvolted my CPU as well.

Yeah, if you think thats bad with a Quad w/ HT. When I fully OC my processor I pull something crazy like 280w.

Well if you're not running at stock then that's fair enough, and you're certainly in need of a beefier power solution. You are, however, a minority market. What irritates me is when people buy ridiculous, behemoth 700w PSUs and then never touch their system clocks or core voltages, largely because they have been conned into thinking that more = better.
