Does anyone know what the cheapest place to get a q6600 that ships to Canada is? Also does anyone know how the e8400 stacks up against the q6600?

Honestly, if you want a quad, go for the q9300. As far as a e8400 vs a quad, the e8400 is going to give you better gaming results NOW, but in the future, those quads will pack a lot more.

I would go with the E8400. Buy the time Quad's really start doing better in gaming, there are going to be much better quads available than the Q6600. A fast dual core is still a better choice right now.

Does anyone actually have like a benchmark between the two in newer games? Because i know tomshardware has comparisons but not recent games...? Also im a pretty loyal amd ( had them all my life just recently looking at intel stuff) fan so how do the phenoms stack up against some of these processors say a 9550 or maybe even a intel e8200 ?

FYI, AMD is crap. If you want anything ALWAYS go with Intel. It's much more efficient NOW. AMD was, at the start, much better, now Intel dominates. The E8400 is better now, the Q6600 SHOULD be better in the future.

The nice thing about a quad core now is that although a dual core is better for gaming a quad is better for multi-tasking. Plus, let's face it, your processor clock speed doesn't mean nearly as much as your graphics card and ram for instance. I can run any game on full settings(minus Crysis, of course)on my q6600.

I second that. No need for benchmarks, a faster dual core will do you much better in gaming for a couple years then a slower quad will. But honestly, either one would likely do you fine.

AMD or Intel? Intel has been on top for awhile now. I don't play favorites, I buy both AMD and Intel, depends on my needs and budget at the time. Right now, I would go with Intel since they are priced decently, perform great and over-clock spectacularly.

My $0.02 anyways.

I think the q6600 is the best choice because i like the idea of future potential and i have found some good deals on them ... although i did find a becnhmark and the e8400 beat the q66000 in everything .... but then again the games arent using the quad cores yet so who knows may change :P

If you're going to get a quad core processor, get the Q9450. 12MB cache for only $50 more than the Q9300.

For gaming, a dual core is still better.

FYI, no they are not. There is nothing wrong with AMD. They are just not as fast as the Intel processors this time around, but they are also priced cheaper to reflect that. Look back to the Pentium 4/D, AMD completely crushed intel back then, its just Intels time to be on top right now. I don't have any complaints at all about my 5400+, its been plenty fast enough for everything i've thrown at it so far.
