If I read this correctly this is your current PC? If so....I see nothing wrong with it.

But, to answer your questions:

1.) Currently the 4870x2 is the stronger one, however, that may change with the GTX 295(?)
1a) with a gfx card like that ( anything similar for that matter ) I would highly recommend a stronger PSU my offhand guess would be ~800W
2.) Currently your board supports socket LGA 775, which would make the i7's out of the question ( unless you want to pay for a brand new processor AND motherboard that supports LGA 1366...which would be probably way over what you would like to pay ).
Many people have been recommending the Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 ( 2 cores ), mostly because of an easy OC to 4gHz. Also, your current one could be OC'd to improve performance...what is the specific Processor model you have anyway?

When it comes to Intel Dual vs Quad, my knowledge is somewhat limited, so someone else will propably know more.
i'm 14 so i know in what kind of limitations you are ;). If i were you, i would go for the ATI card, and not for a new processor. oh, and make sure you have enough GPU memory because when i got a new card wich costed me a leg and a arm, i got a bit of screwed since it was a good card, but it only had 256mb DDR2

So, you alreay have the 4850, e6700 (or e6750), and a p5Q motherboard. If you have these things already just overclock that processor and you should be good to go. No need to spend any extra money. unless you want to get another video card and put another 4850 in that system. Besides that theres not much improvement you can get over what you already have.

nice all!!!! thanks for all ya help!!!!:bows:

yeah my processor is the E6700 low cache of 2mb!! and with the P5Q PRO board it supports Cross-Fire but not SLI, and ATI with their new GPU improvements and Stream processors (800) Like !!OMG!! which in future may have the upper hand???

Cross-fire Hd 4850's??? or a single Hd 4870x2??? my vote is on another 4850!!!!

another would be help on an overclocking program EG: a core temp, stabilizer n such

anyway thanks tones....... any quotes on Vista???

Overclock it. That is still a good CPU, getting a slow quad like the Q6600 (2.6Ghz) would not be worth it, and would actually be slower than your CPU overclocked in most games.

ATI hd 4850, asus P5Q Pro MOBO, 4GB (2x2GB) GSkill 1066mhz ea DDR2, 250HDD WesternDigi, i just bought vista Home Premium.!!!!!!! and i guess my dodgy power color 650w power supply ^_^ it shines blue!!!

Get a second 4850. A 4870X2 would be a waste of money considering you already have a 4850. You could also overclock those 4850's if your cooling is good enough.

another would be help on an overclocking program EG: a core temp, stabilizer n such

CPU overclock should always be done in BIOS, so no extra programs needed there. For stability testing, look for Prime95, Orthos, and Core Damage. CPU-Z is also a pretty helpful little tool to have.

LOL okay no problem!!!! There aint no big deal about SP1???

Not really. Other than the fact that it speeds up Vista a bit (to XP speeds in games) and fixes a ton of bugs.

Sorted out most of the problems that made people hate it. It's now on parr, if not better than, XP.
