Hello. I am planning to buy a DVD ROM / DVD Burner, but to be sincere I don't have the slightest idea about them. On the web sites and magazines they announce the DVD's with features as DVD+, DVD-, DVD RW, etc, but I don't know what do they mean and what are they used for. Also, I need a CD Burner but a friend of mine told me that a DVD Burner doubles as a DVD ROM (to watch DVD's) AND also as a CD Buner, is this true? So, PLEASE, can the all knowing people of GF help this person on this time of need? PLEASE explain me all about the DVD features. Thanks in advanced. :)
DVD-, and DVD+ are two different formats supported by each company. Depending on what dvds you are playing/writing DVD+ or - you will want to get the player to play it. For more details please visit http://www.cdfreaks.com/article/110. DVD- are mainly apple products and DVD+ are Dell products. As for DVD-RWs they are DVDs (that are more expensive) that can be erased are reused. If you want this feature buy a dvd burner that has that capability. Good luck and don't get scammed  about the CD and DVD burner combo: Thats not always true, unless you have a mac and are purchasing a Superdrive. Almost all DVD burners (I used 'almost' because you never know) can allow you to watch and recieve data.
Thanks man, your answer AND the link have helped me understand a little bit more about de DVD's..... I do hope I don't get ripped off when I buy one, any sugestions?
