Yep, installing a new CPU today, just wanted to know if i have to reformat before installing it.

The upgrade is from an AMD 64 3200+ to an AMD X2 3800+. And yes, i have flashed my motherboard so it's supported :)

Check after you install the CPU to see if you can see both graphs in the task manager. one time i was fooling around in my BIOS and i somehow accidently disabled hyperthreading on my CPU just before i formatted. when the format was done i could only see one graph, and i could not get the other one back after i re-enabled hyperthreading. only way i could get windows to see both threds was to reformat. but if there is another wa to get windows to see both threds without formatting, please enlighten me.

Not unless you own an Athlon 64 and choose to install Cool N' Quiet - which, frankly, is more hassle than it's worth.

So no.
