So I am still thinking about getting a new video card. I have read the benchmarks and it seems to be pretty descent. Does anyone have it or no anything about it. Does it run hot? Is the fan loud? Any info and possible suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The 4870 is the best bang for your buck card you can get right now. Your getting damn near GTX 280 performance for less than half the price.

They do run very hot though, but from what i've heard the fan is pretty quiet most of the time. It seems the factory fan speed settings are set to low (just like the HD 3800's), which explains the heat and low noise. That can be fixed by using Rivatuner or ATI Tool to make your own fan speed settings though. Or, you could wait for one to appear with a better aftermarket cooler already on it.

Actually I've read that ATI Tool does not work with the new model ATI cards yet, so you have to use ATI Tray Tools, Riva, etc.

Well I suppose I am used to that having the 8800gt. I am already using Rivatuner for that card. I would hope that a driver update for the 4870 should fix that.

I found this link that tells you how to edit the file in the Catalyst drivers themselves to set the fan speed higher, with no other programs needed, while looking around earlier:

AMD/ATi HD4850/4870 Fan Fix! - XtremeSystems Forums

Seems like a good way if it works. I'm going to try that with my 3850.

Sorry to sidetrack this topic, but what is better; an ATI RADEON HD 3450, or ATI Radeon™ HD 3200 Integrated Graphics, and how much better is one or the either. I read that the 3200 is pretty decent.

Also, again sorry, Gateway woudn't put 6 gigs or ram in a computer running 32bit vista would they?

Thanks guys

Both are better but it depends on your needs. There are a lot of options but if you really want their comparison in a more detailed one try visiting their site or try google as well.. :)
