My video driver, a 256MB DDR ATI Radeon 9800 XT, is outdated and I asked in the FH forums where to get an update. I got a link for a catalyst 5.12 update and installed it. I followed it properly right up to the point where it needs me to restart my computer so it can continue with its stuff. When I restarted I got this popup saying "this application did not initiate properly. click ok to terminate the application." or something like that. It gave me this message when I tried to manually start it from wherever.:uhm: so I went back to the ATI site, got that 5.13 catalyst update, I think it's a newer one or something and tried that. Same message.

So what I ask is, does anyone know what I need to do to get it working? I'd like an updated driver eventually...

thanks for any help

Do you have SP2 installed? You probably also need Microsoft Net-framework.

Yes, the latest catalyst drivers are bundled with the Catalyst control center which requires Net-Framework 1.1 to work. Its free to download from Microsoft pages or through the windows update service.

Or. Have you tried Omega drivers? They are much more compatible and don't screw up your system. www.omegadrivers.net

This happens when you don't have Net Framework.

Install this, then reinstall the driver. It should work then.

While I used to like the Omega drivers, I've switched back to the standard catalyst. For some reason, my card under omega would artefact like hell in OpenGL game, I didn't like that.

Catalyst Control center allows you to determine graphic options and give you basic control over your graphic card. You can adjust antialiasing and anitoscropic (sp, i know) filtering, wich will make FH look MUCH better (altho the text will be hard to read). The game might lag a bit on a 9800, but you can still give it a try.

Yes to both. I had the same problem. The catalyst control center practicly is the driver and yeah, you need Microsoft .Netframework installed first.
