Yes, but how much does it cost :uhm:

And where did you get those benchmarks from?

DailyTech, like he said.

From what I've seen, the 2900XT beats the 8800GTS (as you can see here) by quite a margin; but at the top-end the 8800GTX is still king.

The rumor is the HD 2900XT is going to cost somewhere between 400-449USD. That may change quickly because in an interview, the chief sales guy for AMD said that they want to undercut each cards direct competition by 50-100USD. Thats a tall order if you ask me. AMD's top card (for now) will be the HD 2900XTX: 750 MHz core, 1010 MHz/ 2.02 GHz effective GDDR4 1GB Same memory interface and stream processors. Both cards will be on a 9.5" PCB not that monster 12.5" in previous reports. Rumors say that there will be a 2900XTX2 later as well. The XTX2 being a dual core or "two cards in one" setup.

There will certainly be a price war starting next month. I have always leaned toward ATI products, but at this point it will be best bang for the buck. If the GTS 640MB drops enough I might get the eVGA Superclocked version.

When they tested the XTX they were using the OEM reference board with the 12" PCB. To say the least, it had problems. The XT was even beating it. It seems that the XTX won't be out on May 14th like the others. They still have work to do on it. But the 2400 and 2600 are supposed to launch at the same time as the 2900XT.
