my friend told me the other day that there are 3 new graphics card coming out, scheduled for sometime next year, and they are to be the Radeon X850, Radeon X900 and GeForce 6900. They will be available in both 256MB and 512MB DDR3. Does anyone know whether or not this is true, or whether its been confirmed or not, or is he just talkin crap. Oh and he also mensioned that the X900 would run at 1750Mhz, which i find VERY hard to belive. thx eagleone

Found some info in CPU mag, about this stuff, in an article "Hot Hardware for 2005/2006"

"3D graphics will get a boost in features and performance. Nvidia's gpu codenamed NV50 and AtI's R520 are set to arrive in the second half of '05. If history is any indication, expect these new gpu's to double the performance of the current generation while adding new features to comply with Microsofts next iteration of DirextX. In casual conversation with reps from Nvidia, we were told that its SLI multi-=gpu technology will be supported in the next-gen products and that frame buffers are likely to increase to 512 MB. The NV50's feature set should include some support for features to excelerate the Longhorn's 3D interface. For Ati, the R520 gpu will bring Shader Model 3.0 support, and will likely feature some sort of multi-gpu configuration. Comments made by an Ati rep in a recent fonference call alluded to Ati's multi-gpu plans. Some of its next-gen high-end cards based on the R520 will also feature 512MB frame buffers." and then some blurb about Matrox, XGI, and S3, but who cares.

the future sounds great to me.

yeah it sounds great to me aswell, i saw a website the other day about one of those nVidia quadro graphics cards, and one of them had 512MBs of video memory AND it had SLi, jesus, so if u could afford it you could have 1GB of Vid memory (not that there would be a huge load of performance increase tho). Ill get the link when i find it *edit* got the link, the card is called Pny Quadro FX4400 and here in england, it costs £1595
