I need new RAM because my 768MB apparently isn't enough anymore (It's still pretty slow, surprisingly) however my motherboard only has DDR slots, not DDR2, so it looks like I have to stick to the former.
Any recommendations? And if there is anything else about RAM that I haven't specified (Like latency timings etc), how to I check for them?
Corsair Value Select, as for speed you'll want DDR400 or PC3200 (different ways of saying the same thing).
depends on what u need it for
If he has 768mb then he's probably not the type of person who needs uber expensive RAM with low latencies, heatsinks, LEDs and so on.

What are you looking to run? If your buying new ram i would go with 2GB. Going from 768MB to 1GB is not going to boost your performance that much.
Is your motherboard dual channel capable?
I was thinking of running high end games, actually.
And my mobo's an Albatron PX865PE Lite Pro, not sure if it has dual channel...
EDIT: this is my mobo's full specs and info: http://www.albatron.com.tw/english/it/mb/specification.asp?pro_id=71
Corsair for the win, I have Corsair DDR not DDR2 but I love it, I never had a problem with it either.
2GB Crucial Ballistix PC4000 - Simply awesome!!! 250Hz on 2.6V and will hit 280/290 on 2.7V. THe reccomended 2.8V will take you over 300. All depending on your MOBO/CPU as well of cause
And all that extra money he'll spend on stuff like that will be completely and utterly wasted. Same goes for Corsair XMS Pro and whatever else. Unless you're overclocking, there's no reason to get anything better than standard memory.
PS - given that it's rated at 250MHz, I'd bloody well hope it 'hits' 250MHz at 2.6V...
It's rated 250Hz @ 2.8V!!!
Hence the 300+ @ 2.8V
