Hey guys I haven't posted anything in a while and have a question that I would really appreciate if you guys answered.

Ok it all started when I was trying to watch a video from a website and it told me I needed to Download this codec for Windows Media Player to watch it, so im like ok thats cool and I download it...well turns out it was spyware, it was called virus bursters, It trys to trick me into buying its program cause it pops up saying I have bad spyware and stuff like that on my computer when I know I don't. Because I have alot of anti spyware removers like this, but once I got that codec at first it made this thing at the bottom of my screen saying your computer has serious errors and you need to check for spyware and viruses, so buy this to protect you, I uninstalled it and used my spyware programs to remove it then after I remove it, I still have that stupid thing stuck down there and now it keeps bringing up pop ups and crap that makes my internet basically stop when i play games until I turn it off.

Ok sure this could be easy to fix...just remove it right? Yah well heres the real problem you can't at least i havent found out how, cause it tells me that the program is in use and it cannot remove it till it is not in use anymore. the supercodec thing and the virusbusters came in the same package but were made seperate and i removed virus busters and it still gives me that pop up box. The super codec thing however is the ones that's folder has a bunch of the usual crap stuff to have that you have no idea what it does but I cannot delete it because it says its in use? what do I do this is really annoying while playing WoW I lag when im raiding or doing instances and in other games.

I'm sorry I made this very unedited but im trying to get a quick answer and I need your help. Please try to fix this for me. Thanks in Advance. I will be back in the morning so I will not be able to reply tonight thats why I typed so much.

What anti-spyware programs are you using?

If you don't have them, i would get Spybot Search & Destroy, and lavasofts Ad-Aware SE and run them (make sure you update them first!). And just to be safe i would run a anti-virus scan with a quality programs like Avast!. I know you say its just spyware problem, but if that got in there, who knows what else did that you might not know about.

Start your computer up in safe mode before you run scans, your way more likely to find and be able to delete it that way.

Hehe, porn-site adware problems, eh? Now you got a nasty little perpetual-install program because you clicked 'Download codec'? Run a spyware sweep, and have your Add and Remove Programs open. Delete the spyware, then the program, and restart your computer in a relatively quick move. Adaware SE is good for that, or any other decent adware destroyer.

cc.'s advice about not downloading codecs from random sites is something to pay attention to.
