I would please like recommendations for an internet connection that would be able to play WoW without lag.I really hate lag and want to play without it after spilling out 1000 euro for a laptop. Also how the hell do you check your current internet connection speed??

To test your speed use... Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test

But any connection really, I suggest 256KBPS or higher. I play all the latest games on 256KBPS broadband with no trouble, keeping in mind the download speed of 256k is 30kbps, and the upload speed is 7kbps

I would beg to differ to be honest. Ultimatley, would it matter how good your internet connection was? It is possible that your current one isn't up to standards, it is also possible though, that WoW simply lags? WoW (as you probably know) runs via a server. If there are too many players online, the game is going to lag. There is little you can do to prevent this I don't think. I can't offer suggestions as to which IP to go with either. Would depend upon where you are from (what country), and how much you'd be willing to pay.

I was told by a GM(Game master in WoW)that the lag in WoW all depends on my internet connection and not how many people are on.I dont really understand what you are saying about my connection, are you saying its not up to the game's standards???

Doesn't mean he is right, does it? [quote=R.Z.K;4384700]I dont really understand what you are saying about my connection, are you saying its not up to the game's standards???

it is possible. I don't know what your Internet Connection is, but I have a friend who plays WoW a fair bit, and he has a pretty reliable (and fast) internet connection. Even his game lags at times. It isn't down to his computer either, his computer is capable of running most of the top-end games that are released today. If his computer and Internet provider are ok, from knowledge, there is only one thing to cause the lag, that being too many people on a server. The only thing you can do is to test the theory. Join a game of which hasn't many people in, and compare it to a game that has a lot of people in. If one is a lot slower, then I rest my case. :) Ultimately, it might just be your Internet connection. You've not said what it is, so... what is it? =p

Lag in games does not just depend on your internet connection, although the speed at your end does make a big difference. I just got 14,185kb/s (down) and 732kb/s (up) on that speed test, but when I played WoW (for about a month, dear god that game is boring) I would lag from time-to-time if the server was struggling.

Actually lag mainly depends on your ping not the speed itself.

As to wow, the lag is normally caused server wise.
