About 2 weeks ago i upgraded to my 19inch wide screen monitor from my 17inch it was working fine the resolution did not change itself for awhile. Then one day i booted the machine back up and my res had returned to my old 17inch res of 1280x1024. From the resolution i now use of 1680x1050. So a few things i tried was uninstalling the monitor drivers for the new one made no difference. Then i tried graphics card drivers reinstalled them. The problem still looms and it happens very unexpected. It is also quite annoying getting all my desktop icons jumbled up over and over again. I am running Vista 32bit home premium Service Pack 2 A 9800gt and my monitor is a Philips Brilliance 190BW (Connected though DVI) So anyone who can help much appreciated.:smokin:

I have a 22" inch and just the other day it reverted back to some strange res and i couldn't put it any higher then 1024x768 not my usual 1680x1050.

All i did to fix it was download the newest drivers from nvidia.

As you said you tried drivers so maybe just check you are getting the right one for your card and make sure it is the latest driver, I'm sorry but that's all i can really offer

Check you monitor cable as well. My wifes pc would not go to 1680 x 1050 and she has the same 22" monitor as me. The cable was a crap one and simply changing it fixed it.
