Apparently the GTX 1080Ti will be announced at CES in January, and will feature 3,328 CUDA cores, a 1.6Ghz boost clock, 12GB of GDDR5X memory, and 10.8 Terraflops graphical horsepower.

I'd replace my two 980's with one of these for sure.
The only thing that would give me pause on it is the rumor that Volta is coming some time in Q1/Q2 2017. Well, HPC Volta at least. Could be longer till we see consumer cards running Volta.
I'd love to move up from my 970, but life has more important things for me to spend my money on.
I might wait until the 1180ti.
