Promise RAID controllers are very common and have good driver suport. Best IMHO is Adaptec but its also more expensive.

It is not critical that the 2 drives be the same size for it to work but it is a waste of space if they are not. IIRC the RAID will setup for the smaller HDD. So if you use a 20GB nad a 30GB you will be wasting 10GB thats not being used.

Typically you want to identcal drives for best operation. Also read instructions on how to setup cables and jumpers on HDD.

You will also need to decide on what type of RAID you want to set up. RAID 1-5 or RAID 0. (Been awhile since I had my Promise RAID setup so I dont remember what teh different RAID settings are.

For setup you need a floppy disk or CD with the RAID boot drivers. During setup you will see a screen that says press sucha nd such a key if you need to load RAID drivers. Follow the instructions from there.
