i've seen some other forums said that u cant patch ur shader model and its dependent on ur video card... does that mean if u get a new video card for ur comp it automatically updates ur shader model ??? btw are some CPUs restricted to stock parts only or can all CPUs be modified cuz my CPU dosent have extra "holes" for more fans and if i wanna add them...

That depends on what kind of video card you upgrade to. If you haven't upgraded you're video card in over 2 years then you go out and buy a decent new video card then you'll most likely have a newer shadar model version.

By cpu i assume you are talking about the tower of your pc? Most can be modified if you need to do it, have a look inside and you will see various holes, gaps and spaces where bits can be added.

It is tied to your video card. The video card can only use the highest shader model that it can support. The actual shader model code as far as i know is tied to Direct X.
