Hmmm.... Well I use a combination of the Gimp, and OpenFX.

OpenFX is a 3D Modeling program, that allows you to make images with 3D text in them. The default settings are a bit low in quality, but it is possible to make good quality 3D text with it. Using a variety of Fonts. Blender, or Maya may allow you to create 3D text, but I'm not yet familiar with those programs.

I think Maya has many cool effects that can be applied to 3D text.

The Gimp is an Open Source Photoshop clone. Just about anything you can do with Photoshop, you can do with the Gimp. It will make those images look real nice.

For a photo-editing program, I would recommend Adobe Photoshop Elements. The trial can be downloaded here: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopelwin/main.html Tutorials are available at http://www.pslover.com http://www.pixel2life.com Hope you enjoy!

FX-FraggerP.S. GIMP SUCKS

Photoshop is around what $400 USD? Atleast a hundred dollars.

The Gimp is free, and more powerfull than many retail, or shareware image editors. It has plugins, just as Photoshop has plugins. Nuff, said.

You may change your tune, when the Gimp 2.4, or later 3.0 come out.

If I could afford Photoshop, I might be inclined to agree. I was lucky to get an older copy of Photoshop 7.

Try the recently released Gimpshop for Windows. It is a version of the Gimp, that has a layout similiar to Adobe Photoshop.
