Hello, everytime I try to play my new game The Lord of The Rings The Battle For Middle Earth on my new computer, it will freeze after a few minutes. The same thing happens when I play Doom 3 and somtimes Call of Duty. I just finished downloading the latest ATI Drivers. Now I have the Catalyst Control Center installed and my game still keeps freezing. I just got this computer for Christmas and the specs are- Case ( NzxtGuardianATXMid-Tower Case w/420W Power Supply Silver ) Processor ( [Socket-775] Intel® Pentium-4 Processor 530 [3.0GHz, 1MB Cache, 800MHz FSB, HT Ready] ) Processor Cooling ( Certified CPU Fan and Heatsink ) Motherboard ( [Socket 775] Abit AS8 i865 Chipset w/LAN, 5.1 Sound, IEEE-1394, USB 2.0 8x AGP Motherboard ) Memory ( 512 MB Dual Channel [256MB X2] DDR-400 PC3200 Memory Module Geil or Major Brand ) Hard Drive ( 160 GB HARD DRIVES Western Digital 160 GB 7200 RPM Ultra ATA-100 2MB Cache Hard Drive ) CD/DVD Drive ( 16x DVD-ROM Drive Silver ) CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive ( Samsung TS-H552B Dual Format/Double Layer 16X DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW Drive Silver ) Video Card ( ATI Radeon 9600-XT 256MB w/DVI + TV Out 8x AGP Video )

Thanks in advance- -Salska

in your ram what does it mean "or major brand" sounds like you need to get another 512mb of ram. with p4 i think another 2 256mb sticks of the same brand will work fine but sometimes filling all the slots makes ur ram run slower. youd have to check up on that when u install windows, you should do this OS->direct x->chipset drivers->gpu drivers that way you wont have any probs maybe if you uninstalled gpu drivers, then ran drivercleaner in safe mode then installed chipset drivers followed by video cards. its hard to tell if you have chipset drivers installed but crap performance is an indicator

you have windows xp? go to my computer-> add/remove programs->ati drivers->remove then restart into safemode. but first, get a program called drivercleaner. run it in safe mode and use the ati filter after you uninstall then do chipset drivers before gpu drivers from now on
