I successfully got connected to the internet here at college a day or two ago. Now I am trying to get my tower to connect. I use a ethernet cable identical to the one I use for the laptop here.

The rules are that I can't plug both computer in at the same time even though I have 2 jacks in my room [if I had a room mate, but I don't so they're both mine], and that when I initially connect I must visit a college website that needs my username and password to fully connect to the internet.

I did this on the laptop like I said and it was all fine and dandy. The tower doesn't connect, and I don't know it it does or does not recognize the connection is is being fed. I thought this would be a simple process of hooking up another computer... seems not. Can someone please help me?

I didn't make it!

Try contacting whoever is in charge maybe? Sorry. I just felt bad that you had no replies yet.

Maybe it registered that jack to the mac address of your laptop. And it wont let you on two connections at the same time. If you want to connect both to your school network. You can try and get a switch and split the connection up. I did that and it works fine for me now.
