Im after a free trial, or freeware program that I can use to alter sound files such as .wav. Like for example, add different effects and adjust the settings so it sounds different. Does anyone know of any?

Audacity. It is opensource freeware that allows you to add lots of pre-rendered effects like Phaser and Wammy, plus add your own. It's extremely easy to use. It's a sourceforge site, and you know you can trust them. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
