I recently got my new upgrade and now the mic on msn is all weird, my friend says it keeps cutting out and making weird sounds and the quality has gone down a lot for both of us. Im also hearing a little bit of static on my headphones when I turn them up. My new mobo is an Asus AN5X.

Does anyone know why the sound is so much worse even though I got it upgraded?

It's difficult to explain. When I'm talking to him the quality of his voice just goes worse every now and then and sometimes I hear this windy sort of sound. It didn't happen with his old computer though. There must be something that can be easily fixed. The sound shouldn't be like that, it's a much better computer than his old one.

J.C. DentonSound card? (*psst* We need more info.)

Sorry my specs are:

AMD 3700+ Asus AN5X motherboard Leadtek 7800GT 256mb 1.5gb kingston ram

I use the motherboards soundcard which is the same with my old computer but the old computer had a P4 mobo.

Is it possible that the sound chipset is not of as good of quality as it was on your old P4 board?

Integrated chipsets are not that great anyways, you might want to invest in a cheap PCI sound card, everything will sound much better.

I thought of that but my old mobo was an asus as well so they couldn't have made there newer mobo's worse would they?
