There is the speech recognition engine built in to Microsoft Word etc.... You can get at it by opening word then going to Tools > Speech.

I think you need service pack 2 for it to be there, not sure though.

I believe Windows comes with an application called "language bar." I have no idea how to activate it or where it's stored, it just popped up on my desktop one day. It's really a riot, though, when you refuse to train it ;)

'Talk Any' is a hilarious t-t-s program because you can change the voice types. No spyware or anything. Great stuff.
