I saw these on steam for $2 each which seems very cheap, are they rubbish or is it worth getting one?

If you have a need for it, its worth it, I know people who use them, they need a wired ethernet connection to work well though, Wi-Fi is ropey at best.

I have 3 of them , one I dont have connected but have them on 2 TVs.

I think they are very useful.

Even if you dont game on them, you can use them as a broadcast for your PC desktop.

It also makes your PC desktop into broadcast hub.

You can go to your PC and it will show on what ever you have the steam link on.

Hmm, well, from my limited experience even on ethernet, it's pretty decent but you get some compression artefacts as with any video streaming sometimes. It's certainly not like playing on a monitor directly connected to the PC. Works fine for say a TV at usual living room viewing distance mind, which is what it is intended for I guess.
