Recently my Western Digital hard drive crashed and I got the same one because of the warrenty. After I finished installing everthing again I get this strange lag. Like i'd open up opera but it wud take 20 seconds to respond. And some other problems that might be related are. Norton system works 2005 doesnt work on startup. I mean it loads but the little "X" pops up and says auto protect disabled. I have to enable it everytime I startup :uhm:. Also when I open up My computer it just does that animation for searching for files and does nothing. I exit it and wait a while and I can open it up fine. Also I dont know if this should go here but, When I try to play half life 2 and while it tries to unlock the files for playing it frezzes and my mouse I cant move. I have no idea what I did wrong. Any ideas?

Specs in sig.

page file. right click my comp, goto advanced, and i think its in the performance fame window where it says settings, now hit the advanced tab on that new form, goto where it says virtual memory and click change. goto your HDD where you ahve a page file, click on no page file option. disable any page files on any drive, click ok and restart computer. now it will just load into your RAM, and your system will now work much faster. now go to start/run, or windows key +r, and type msconfig. goto services tab and uncheck all of these. disable the following (unless you use some of them) ALERTER ERROR REPORTING SERVICE FAST USER SWITCH HELP AND SUPPORT ----> lol, ya right windows XP, leave that to me. OFF REMOTE ACESS CONNECTION REMOTE DESKTOP HELP SECONDARY LOGIN PRINT SPOLLER TELEPHONY TERMINAL SERVICES THEMES (only if you like how 95 and 98 looked... Sad ) AUTOMATIC UPDATES WIRELESS ZERO CONFIG

your welcome :D

In hope of not starting another thread, may I ask my question here? Does a firewall slow down online gaming? cause when I did my tests...it did.
