Actually Im not an ATI "fan", I just think the X1950XT is great bang for buck when it comes to DX9 ;). If you were building a Vista system right now I would have reccomended you the same 8600GT or 8600GTS. I only chose the X1950XT because I thought you were staying DX9/XP. He probably suggested a 7950GT because he thought you were staying XP as well. The 7950GT and X1950XT out perform the 8600GT hugely, and even the 8600GTS by quite a large benchmark. Also as Arcade said, if you plan to do heavy duty DX10 gaming (Crysis) then it would probably be a better idea to step up to the 8600GTS.

indeed. i think im gonna sli 2 8600gt's then in a year or two move up to 8800's(guessing there will be a significant price job)
