This should make it a lot easier to tweak your settings for best Crysis performance. Included are ways to get Very High mode out of XP and a way of getting as much as 30% better FPS and very similar graphics to Very High mode via a few tweaks.
Wow, the "Cheap Very High" is definteley worth a look at.
Huh, I didn't know there were cheats for the game...
I'm also surprised how jaggy things still look on High or Ultra High in DX9 or DX10. It doesn't look like he tried to use AA or AAF. I would be interested to know his computer setup when he took his captures.
As Koroush stated in part of the guide, you have to have spec capable of High shader settings as below that AA cannot be used in Crysis. I imagine he at least has a system capable of running the game on all High though if he has tested a method of playing with near Very High settings via running at High and adding a few tweaks. If you read this section he goes into extreme detail about how Crysis utilizes AA: http://www.tweakguides.com/Crysis_6.html

Keep in mind to make use of that you have to have a rig that can easily run on High, but not Very High. It does beg the question though if you bump the values of each of the tweaks down one notch after setting everything to Medium whether you can get a "cheap" version of High too. Unfortunately I don't fit into either category. However, I'm really starting to see the beauty of the game now that I've replaced my X800XT with the X1950 Pro 512MB AGP I just got. I guessed pretty close what I'd be able to add in the settings, though at a slightly reduced res. I was running at High textures, Medium sound, everything else low @ 1600x1200. Now I can run High textures, Medium sound, Medium shadows, Medium shaders, and Medium water @ 1200x900 with about the same 30 average FPS. The difference is truly remarkable, everything looks so real and alive now and I haven't even built my uber rig yet. I'm tempted to try one other setting bump to Medium afte knocking the res down to 1024x768, but not being able to run High shaders means no AA and everything looks jaggy at that res. If I do though it will probably be a toss between volumetrics or physics.
